If you’re the operator of a platform that sells event tickets, you might find success quickly. However, the opposite could also be true. You may struggle to get the business off the ground.

Look at Your Payment Structure

Let’s say you’re running an online platform where you sell tickets to events. You’re trying to compete against the industry giants, like Ticketmaster and Stubhub. You haven’t yet seen the brisk ticket sales you were hoping to attain.

It could be that you’re not yet offering a payment structure that appeals to your would-be customers. Whether you’re selling event tickets, memorabilia, or trying to set up secure jewelry merchant services, your customers want to pay via a method they trust implicitly. If you don’t have a reputable payment method that has partnered with your website, you’re likely fighting a losing battle with the more established brands.

Only Offer Tickets to Premium Events

You should also think about whether you’re offering something that Ticketmaster or Stubhub can’t. That probably means getting away from selling a wider range of tickets and instead only offering entry to events that are harder to obtain.

What might those events be? The answer to that depends on what market you’re targeting. High-end tickets to football, baseball, hockey, tennis, and other sports might be your go-to. Offering tickets to the most exclusive concerts could also attract more customers.

Consider Adding Onto the Event Experience

Thinking along those same lines, it might become necessary to offer additional services on top of merely obtaining tickets to the most premium events. To beat the biggest platforms competing against you in this niche, you may have to offer additional concierge services besides entry to a game or show.

That could mean getting your customer access to a luxury box at the big game or concert. Maybe your ticket package will also include an array of snacks, plush chairs, and an in-suite attendant who will cater to their every need. Adding the personal touch to a ticket package could mean the difference in getting the consistent sales you’ve been missing.

What Can You Offer That Others Don’t?

In order to make it more likely that you’ll get noticed in this market, try to think outside the box. What can you offer that other ticket platforms don’t?

Maybe it will be ticket services that include not only entry to the event and a luxury box, but also transportation via a limo. Imagine a platform where a customer can purchase a package where a driver will pick them up at their London flat and take them directly to a U2 show at Royal Albert Hall, with champagne on ice in the vehicle. That’s something Ticketmaster or Stubhub isn’t likely to match.

Entry into this niche isn’t easy, but by applying a little brainpower to the problem, it’s absolutely possible.
